David, our Regional Representative for Beijing, has lived and worked in China since 2007. He leads the Young Chinese Professionals in overseeing and in managing Scotland-China YCP activities in Beijing.
David was one of five students from across the UK, the only one from Scotland, to be awarded the British Council and HSBC Gap Year Scholarship in 2007. The ten month scholarship in Shanghai included six months of language learning interspersed with four months of internship.
While in Shanghai, David worked for a boutique advisory firm that offers a range of merchant banking and corporate advisory services to leading multinationals, Chinese companies and investors. David has since advised and assisted many leading firms about entering the Chinese market.
In Scotland, he has worked with Fiona Hyslop MSP (Cabinet Minister for Education and Lifelong Learning), Dulwich College China and the British Embassy, Beijing in order to set up various scholarships, which will see more Scottish talent having the opportunity to go to China. Besides this, David has also been asked to write various articles, to give speeches and interviews tackling the issue of China's impact in the world as well as the educational side of Chinese teaching in Scotland .
David has studied at Moscow State University and the University of St Andrews, where he was awarded a scholarship as one of the top language students.
